Ferrosilicon – chemical formula FeSi, it consitutes an addition in various steel industry processes. Primarily it is know as an oxidant and alloying component. High-purity ferrosilicon may be employed in production of high permeability steel. Together with addition of calcium, it serves as a modifier in grey and ductile cast iron production. Moreover, it is applied in steelmaking as a reducer in refinement processes.
